Dan is a writer and director based in London. His work has won three BAFTAs and has seven BAFTA and Emmy nominations.
His work as a director includes single films: The Queen and I (King Bert/Sky) adapted from the novel by Sue Townsend; Eric, Ernie and Me (Objective/BBC 4); and Gangsta Granny Strikes Again! starring Sheridan Smith (Little Bert/BBC).
Dan opened the award-winning sci-fi series Silverpoint for Zodiak Kids Studio, CBBC and ZDF.
Previous drama credits include The Collection (Lookout Point/Amazon), The Ice Cream Girls (Left Bank Pictures/ITV1) and the BAFTA-winning Case Histories: ‘When Will There Be Good News’ (Ruby Films/BBC), as well as critically acclaimed BBC4 dramas Hattie and Consuming Passion.
Comedy credits include Inside No.9 (BBC2), Siblings (Bwark/BBC3), Pramface (Little Comet/BBC3), The Other One (Cave Bear/BBC2) and Ideal (Baby Cow/BBC).
Dan co-wrote the pilot episode for original comedy series Do Not Resuscitate (Gaumont). Past writing credits include the opening episode for Pramface Series 3, the BBC2 short sweetnightgoodheart starring David Tennant, as well as BAFTA Nominated short films That Sunday and Dual Balls. His original screenplay Project Mustard won the Tribeca Sloan development award at the Tribeca Film Festival.
He directed a 2-hour episode of Grace Series 4 for ITV, and returned in 2025 to direct another episode for Series 6.
