Colin MacDonald’s short film, Survivor (Tèarnadh), will be broadcast on BBC Alba at 10pm on New Year’s Day, with Iain MacRae re-voicing his role in Scottish Gaelic.
The film covers the long-lasting effects of The Iolaire Disaster in 1919, in which 201 men returning home from the First World War were killed when the HMY Iolaire sank as it was arriving in Stornoway.
The film was funded by the Imperial War Museum and the Iolaire Trust and was screened at the Inverness Film Festival back in November.
Colin has had a long career as a writer for film, television, stage and radio. His recent credits include the drama-documentary series Pretender Prince for BBC Radio 4, the audio drama An Eye For A Killing and the radio adaptation of C.J Sansom’s Shardlake.
