Nancy Harris adapted Kate DiCamillo’s children’s book The Magician’s Elephant as a stage musical, lyrics were co-written with Marc Teitler, who wrote the music.
The Magician’s Elephant cast recording has been released today across platforms including, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and YouTube!
The UK premiere of The Magician’s Elephant was at the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2021. The musical premiered in the USA in 2024.
Nancy is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter from Dublin. She is the creator and writer of the IFTA and BAFTA nominated comedy drama series The Dry, currently in post for its third and final season. Nancy’s plays include Somewhere Out There You (Abbey Theatre), Two Ladies (Bridge Theatre), The Beacon (Druid), Our New Girl (The Bush) and No Romance (Abbey Theatre). Belfast Lyric Theatre’s recent production of Our New Girl was nominated for Best Play Revival at the 2025 UK Theatre Awards.
Nancy and Marc previously collaborated on Baddies: The Musical, the musical which opened at Unicorn Theatre in 2015, and was so successful it returned to the Unicorn for Christmas 2016!
