John Morton has been nominated for a Writers’ Guild of Ireland Zebbie Award in the Best Theatre Script category for his play Denouement.

The Zebbie Awards celebrate the best of Irish writing across theatre, film, television and radio. The awards ceremony will take place at the Light House Cinema in Dublin on Thursday, September 3rd.
Denouement premiered at Lyric Theatre Belfast in October 2025 to excellent reviews. The production starred Anna Healy and Patrick O’Kane. The play is due to premiere in the US next year with the Irish Classical Theatre Company.
John’s earlier work includes play The Roaring Banshees (co-written with Peter McGann) now in TV development, and six part orignal series Dead Still for RTE/Acorn. He is due to direct one of Screen Ireland’s Focus Shorts later this year. John is currently working on commissions for stage, film and television.
