Hidden Belfast: Forbidden Love by Hugh Costello

Hugh Costello has written five-part Hidden Belfast: Forbidden Love for BBC Northern Ireland, starring Desmond Eastwood and Jonathan Harden.

The drama series sheds light on the forgotten diaries of a linen merchant who recorded the lives of gay people living in Belfast in the 1930s.

The secret diaries of David Strain, compiled between 1920 and 1943, provide the background to a journey of isolation and ignorance to a vibrant world of sexual desire, love and community.

The first episode of the series will air on Saturday 7th September at 1:30pm on BBC Radio Ulster. The series will then air weekly at the same time.

The entire series is available to listen to now on BBC Radio Sounds.

Hugh Costello is represented by Rochelle Stevens.
