Our friend and client since 2011, Jeff Murphy, has died in New Zealand, 30 August 2022. Jeff was 70.
Jeff was given a writer’s BAFTA award for the successful detective series HINTERLAND.
He was nominated for a second writing BAFTA for Hinterland. Jeff was also a writer and producer on the critically acclaimed 8 x 1hour television series, HIDDEN (Craith), co-created by his son, Mark Andrew.
Three feature films DENMARK, JUSTINE and FAIRYTALE were produced from Jeff’s screenplays:
DENMARK starring Rafe Spall, directed by Adrian Shergold, was produced by David Aukin & Ed Talfan for BBC Films/FAW;
JUSTINE, directed by Jamie Patterson;
FAIRYTALE was based on Jeff’s beautiful script Fairytale of New York.
Jeff co-founded Cardiff-based company Severn Screen from 2009 to 2018.
A Random House/Penguin author, his book on boxer Johnny Owen, now adapted for the screen, was elected the London Sunday Times Sports Book of the Month.
We will miss him so much.
