Colin MacDonald has collaborated on a new piece, River, as part of Spirit of the Highlands, a one-night musical event at Eden Court’s Empire Theatre on Tuesday 31st March at 7:30pm. Go to the Eden Court website to get your ticket!
Colin wrote River in collaboration with composer James Ross and Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis. The piece draws inspiration from the Tapestry of the Highlands and Islands, which was woven by community stitchers and is now on display at Inverness Castle.
Spirit of The Highlands brings together celebrated musicians from across Scotland to explore the transformation of Inverness Castle.
Colin MacDonald’s short film Survivor was screened at the Inverness Film Festival last year and was broadcast on BBC Alba on New Year’s Day 2026 in Scottish Gaelic. His other credits include the five-part drama-documentary Pretender Prince, five-part crime drama An Eye For A Killing (both narrated by Jack Lowden), and adaptations of all six Shardlake novels by C J Sansom, all for BBC R4.
