Nancy Harris’ play The Beacon is having its North American Premiere at Irish Repertory Theatre this autumn.
A mysterious accident, a dead husband. People are talking. Secrets are resurfacing from the depths. Is the past ever truly dead?
Beiv, a renowned artist, has left her suburban Dublin home for a secluded cottage on a rugged island off the coast of West Cork, Ireland. Here, there is no escaping the rumours of her shadowy past. Her relative peace is disrupted when her estranged son, Colm, returns home with his new wife, searching for answers about his father’s mysterious death. Prying into the past comes with a cost, and returning to the island will leave some people searching for a light – and others avoiding its glare.
Starring Kate Mulgrew as Beiv, Zach Appelman as Colm, Sean Bell as Donal, David Mattar Merten as Ray, and Ayana Workman as Bonnie. Directed by Marc Atkinson Borrull.
The Beacon will be running from 11th September – 3rd November 2024, on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage at Irish Repertory Theatre.
Tickets are available now on the Irish Rep Website.
