Nancy Harris and Marc Teitler’s musical adaptation of The Magician’s Elephant will have its Japanese premiere in 2027. It will be performed in Tokyo in April and Osaka in May.
Nancy and Marc adapted Kate DiCamillo’s 2009 novel The Magician’s Elephant into a musical for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2021, with Nancy writing the book and lyrics and Marc writing the music and lyrics.
This new production is directed by Worry Kinoshita, known for his work on the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic opening ceremony. It will star Takuro Ohno, Kosei Mizsuta, Sae Miyazawa and Yuichi Harada, with more cast to be announced.
Nancy Harris is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter from Dublin. The third and final series of her comedy-drama The Dry aired on RTÉ in April, and will be airing on ITV – release date yet to be announced.
