Peter is perhaps best known as the writer of 227 episodes of the acclaimed Channel 4 drama serial, Brookside, between 1986 and 2003.
He has written and developed film and television drama for the BBC and various independent companies and his radio drama has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and 4.
He began his writing career at the Royal Court Theatre in London where he won the George Devine Award in 1983. His stage plays have since been performed throughout Britain – from the Royal National Theatre and Belfast Opera House to miner’s welfare halls.

Peter is developing a feature project with producer Mark Forstater and director Johnny Hurn and has written a monologue commissioned by National Theatre Wales for their 2018 season, to celebrate 70 years of the NHS. He was commissioned by Sphinx Theatre Company to write The Question – A cabaret-infused performance was produced at the Soho Theatre in September 2013 and won two awards at the Brighton Fringe 2014 as A Berlin Kabaret.
