Cara Loftus is an Irish writer who began her career working as a researcher on award-winning documentary BLOOD FRUIT, before moving into production working freelance with Irish, UK and US studios spanning independent film, high end television and major motion pictures. She worked in this field for almost a decade before pursuing her passion for writing.
Cara’s debut feature film SPILT MILK won the Audience Award at the Glasgow Film Festival 2025 and was nominated for four IFTAs including Best Film and Best Script (Film). It had its Irish debut at the Dublin Film Festival 2025, where Cara has since won a DIFF Discovery Award.
Cara is currently developing two other feature films – HARMONY with Tailored Films, and an untitled historical drama with MK1 Studios, and has two television series in development.
Cara was selected for Element Pictures Storyhouse Lab in 2024 and her horror TV spec script THE GHOST OF REDMOND’S HALL was selected for the 2023 Stowe Story Labs Writer’s Retreat.
